After the successful “Summertime” recital in 2023, this year the Bordeaux National Opera Academy invites you back to Château de Ferrand for an event concert: :
SUNDAY 23rd JUNE 2024 – 5.00 pm “La Source de la musique, From Bach to Verdi”
For this second edition, the public will be invited to stroll through the estate for an itinerant concert that takes Bach’s music as the source of all other music. After the concert, you’ll be invited to share a moment of conviviality around Ferrand’s wine.
Since 2023, Pauline Chandon-Moët and Château de Ferrand Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, accompany the young artists of the Bordeaux National Opera Academy. This project is in line with Pauline’s ongoing desire to promote the development of young talent.
Initiated in 2022, the Bordeaux National Opera Academy’s mission is to give young artists at the end of their studies, the opportunity to perform on the stage of this prestigious Bordeaux institution.
For the 2023/2024 season, it is Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece La Traviata that gave rise to the creation of the show La Traviata revisited last February.
For the Saint-Emilion Open Houses on 4 & 5 May 2024, Château de Ferrand Grand Cru Classé is opening its doors over the weekend!
Come and discover the estate, its history and its wines during a visit, guided by a member of the château team.
To round off the visit, you’ll be invited to taste two wines:
A vintage of Château de Ferrand Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Emilion, served in magnum
A vintage of the estate’s second wine, Le Différent de Château de Ferrand.
Then, extend the moment with lunch on the terrace overlooking the vineyards with our partner food truck Le Chausson Gascon! Delicious chaussons baked over a wood fire to enjoy with a glass of Château de Ferrand.

For the Christmas season, Château de Ferrand opens the doors of our Chef’s kitchen to a unique culinary experience. The Primeurs Week 2023 has come to an end! As a real highlight for all the Bordeaux winemakers, it took place from the 24th to the Friday 28th of April. The En Primeurs Campaign is an exclusive sale for La place de Bordeaux: it allows wine traders to pre-order wines of the last vintage that are still in barrels. The shipping will take place two years after the bottling of the wine. This year, the focus was on the vintage 2022, one of the greatest ever produced in Bordeaux!
At Château de Ferrand Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, the first tastings took place from the 5th of April. In total, we welcomed more than 250 people from all around the world – from the USA to Taiwan, Islande or Abu Dhabi. Our guests were able to enjoy the visit of the property, the Primeur tasting and a diner in the Orangery of the Château.

Vintage 2022 in few words…
The 2022 vintage was globally marked by good climatic conditions. Beginning of April, two particularly intense episodes of frost threatened the region but thanks to its elevated position, the Ferrand vineyard was spared. During the very hot and dry summer, the Ferrand vineyards were not significantly affected by water stress. Indeed, the plant was suitably supplied with water thanks to Ferrand’s unique clay-limestone terroir, that absorbed the rain water in the winter. The vines demonstrated their resilience, the result of soil tilling and leaf canopee management work performed throughout the year.
Harvesting for the 2022 vintage began on the 5th of September (first time in the property’s history!) and was completed on the 5th of October, making a total of 13 harvest days spread out over the course of a month. Extraordinary weather conditions, with warm days and cool nights, allowed us to take our time with the harvests in order to obtain optimum maturity.
Château de Ferrand 2022 blend is 66% Merlot and 34% Cabernet Franc. It is a dynamic, expressive wine with a very good balance: a faithful reflection of the limestone terroir of Château de Ferrand. 2022 marks the second year of Château de Ferrand’s organic conversion.

From the 5th April to the 31st of August, the musée de la Création Franche is unveiling a selection of works from its collections in the barrel cellar of Château de Ferrand.
“L’Humble Bic” includes 62 works created by 24 artists, which all have one thing in common: the use of ballpoint pen. A tool of simplicity, inexpensive and democratic, it is for the authors of art brut an “easy”, immediate medium, in keeping with the spontaneity of this form of expression.
Thanks to the personal and industrial history of its owners, Château de Ferrand has recently opened up to a new artistic and cultural dimension, which has given rise to this unique exhibition. The Bich family has long been aware of the way in which artists and creators of all kinds have seized upon this very simple tool, the BIC® Cristal®, and has begun to build a collection of contemporary art, alongside the BIC company.
When Pauline Bich Chandon-Moët discovered that the Musée de la Création Franche had a collection of one thousand two hundred works created with a biro, it seemed obvious: when the museum was closed for renovation and expansion, it was only natural that Château de Ferrand offered to display a small part of the museum’s collection in the cellars.
Opened in 1989 in Bègles, the Musée de la Création Franche explores the territories of art brut, popular art and naive art. It houses a rich collection of 20,000 works, the first public collection in history dedicated to outsider art and related fields in France. It has just been awarded the title of “Musée de France”.
