TASTING

The château’s first classified vintage!
2012 has an intense, very deep crimson appearance. Its nose pairs toasty oak with black fruit such as blackberry. On the palate it offers up the signature of a sunny vintage, very rounded in the attack and development with well-integrated tannins. However, it is prevented from tipping over into excessive jamminess by a freshness that supports the whole wine and brightens the finish.
A wine which could be laid down but would be best enjoyed soon.

climatOLOGY

The winter was marked by low temperatures that persisted until April.
Significant rainfall then set in until mid-July. Temperatures began to rise again in May and June. The summer months were relatively hot and very dry until mid-October.

QualitY OF VINTAGE

Whilst this vintage’s weather conditions were not the best during the first half of the year, the Ferrand team’s constant monitoring work in first the vineyards and then the winery enabled them to harvest a healthy, perfectly ripe vintage.
There is good balance between alcohol levels and acidity. A very present colour, and judicious extraction that has produced refined, silky, extremely rounded tannins.
