2013
A vintage full of finesse

TASTING

The 2013 vintage welcomes us with a beautiful bright red appearance with hints of pink.
Its nose opens up to lovely notes of oak and spice, such as cinnamon and pepper.
The wonderful freshness first comes though on the palate, and is joined by red fruit in the finish.
A wine that will be very enjoyable both now and in the years to come, pairing pleasure with simplicity.

climatOLOGY

The winter temperatures were only very slightly lower than normal.
They rose again from mid-April onwards, until May when they dropped and were joined by heavy rainfall. The June weather was mild but very rainy. In July, the temperatures once again fell sharply. The August temperatures were in the normal range, but rainfall remained high and on 2 August the region was struck by a hailstorm. Part of the vineyard was affected and we lost nearly 15 % of the harvest. September and the first half of October were punctuated by rainy spells, although temperatures remained close to normal.

QualitY OF VINTAGE

It is well known that the 2013 vintage was one of the most difficult in recent years in the Bordeaux region. Fruit dropping, shot berries, mildew then the botrytis attack in September all affected the harvest, requiring considerable amounts of work to be performed on the vines throughout September with sorting at the vines and then in the cellar (both manual and optical sorting) due to high levels of heterogeneity even within individual bunches.
The vintage is characterized by a medium tannic structure which preserves its elegance. Nevertheless, the gentle winemaking and maturation processes ensured that good aromatic potential was retained thanks to careful and methodical work performed at the estate.
